SKILLS

web dev, product design, a/b testing

The Create Page is where uses can specify their requirements for their generations on Kaedim. It encapsulates deep technical specifications for 3D models, meaning it needs to host heavy files, multiple images, and configureable pipelines while remaining a simple process.

DESIGN

Multiple asset generation

Users can easily add multiple entries to generate a batch of assets in a single session.

Visibility on all files

Users can access previously uploaded files quickly, while getting additional context on the content of their uploads.

before & after

a/b testing

Improved task completion time by 10x through multi-asset creation

A user reported it would on average take over 20 minutes to generate a batch of assets.

They were able to generate the same number of assets in just 2 minutes using the redesign.

Clear visual hierarchy guides the user through a tedious process

The previous layout lacked visual hierarchy, causing users get confused and lost on what information they need to input.

Dense options are condensed to a static, constrained side panel the leaves users squinting.

Scaleable design and components to match users' unique requirements

We built custom UI for every new user to match their specific, niche requirements.

Now, a modular experience allows users to customize their generation settings to fit their needs.

reception

After the launch of the redesign, I actively kept a close eye on it's reception by spearheading user interviews a month after it's release. We kept an open communication on Slack channels to ensure all bugs and feedback were reported.

Below are a few highlights by some of our power users.

"I really like the multiple asset setup. It makes the process so much faster than before where I used to send the assets one by one"

-Power User A, in a user research session

"Being able to see everything and entering all the info on the same page is so nice."

-Power User B, shared on Slack

key takeaways

Validation at every step of the process

Particularly because this redesign had to accommodate custom UI built for users over the years, I had to be constantly validating my designs to ensure they would not cause any fatal incompatibilities.

Not only did this extend to pre-release and post-release testing, but to ensuring that my architecture and structure remain solid and harmonious.

Staying mindful of the learning curve

A big redesign like this requires users to adapt to the new, and adoption can vary depending on the user group.

Through iterative releases, I was able to help guide experienced users through the process better. Our team adjusted tooltips, disabled states, to point users to the right direction.

As my first big launch at Kaedim, I had so many learnings from grounding research to handoff processes. The redesign is currently live on the app, supporting hundreds of our users to generate more efficiently. Great thanks to my team for the guidance and shipping it to success!

thanks for visiting, let's stay in touch.
